WHO SAYS SIZE DOESN’T MATTER?

Did you know you can save money by buying larger sized bottles?

Let’s break it down.

The Federal Vaping Tax is applied per container $1.12 per 2mL for the first 10mL, followed by $1.12 per 10mL or fraction thereof above the initial 10mL. The provinces follow suit and add their own vaping tax to match the Federal tax. So…

The actual Tax applied per container is $2 .24 per 2mL for the first 10mL, followed by $2.24 per 10mL or fraction thereof above the initial 10mL.

So now that we know what we’re up against, let’s break it down and look at some numbers.

·        Example 1:

o   A 60mL bottle is taxed $2.24 per 2mL for the 1^st 10mL (5*2.24) = $11.20

o   The next 50mL is taxed by $2.24 per 10mL or fraction thereof 5*2.24) =$11.20

o   Total taxes on a 60mL bottle = $22.40 or $0.37 per mL.

 

·        Example 2:

o   A 120mL bottle is taxed $2.24 per 2mL for the 1^st 10mL (5*2.24) = $11.20

o   The next 110mL is taxed by $2.24 per 10mL or fraction thereof 11*2.24) =24.64

o   Total taxes on a 120mL bottle = $35.84 or $0.30 per mL.

So, based on this, if you were to buy one 120mL bottle, you would pay $35.84 in vaping tax. BUT(!!), if you were to buy TWO 60mL bottles (same volume), you would pay $44.80 ($22.40x2). Purchasing a 120mL bottle over 2 60mL’s will SAVE you $8.96 in taxes.

While the tax on the first 10mL is based on 2mL portions, it is going to remain the same. The remainder is then based on 10mL portions, lowering the average tax per mL. This is even more evident with larger volumes.

And that’s just the tax savings. Your cost per mL also goes down based on the size of your bottle.

·        Example:

o   Before all taxes, a 60mL bottle would cost you $25.79.

o   Before all taxes, a 120mL bottle would cost you $40.07.

Again, based on this, buying one 120mL bottle would cost you $40.07 while buying TWO 60mL bottles (same amount of eliquid), you would pay $51.58 ($25.79 x 2). Hey, purchasing a 120mL bottle over 2 60mL’s will SAVE you $11.51 for the same amount of eliquid.

Now, let’s roll everything up into the grand finale, how much can you save? Let’s use our 60mL bottle as our example:

And there it is. Buying a single 120mL bottle instead of two 60mL bottles saves you $22.92, probably enough to pay for your replacement coils or pods.
