Another Round of Excise Taxes on Vaping Products

Starting January 1, 2025, Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, PEI, and Yukon will implement a new vaping tax as part of a coordinated federal-provincial framework.

According to Provincial governments, this tax is “aimed at discouraging vaping, especially among young people.”

What they claim:  This move is part of a broader effort across Canada to address high vaping rates among young people.

What it means: Tax Increase: Provincial tax will double the existing federal excise tax on vaping products. This means that consumers will pay $2 per two millilitres of vaping liquids for the first 10 millilitres, and $2 per 10 millilitres for volumes above that.
