Think of our country as a group of condominiums. We all live here and we are all trying to live our best lives. We all chip in a percentage in order to keep the grass cut and outside lights and garbage, pool maintenance, security etc. no one minds because we get an equal value for the money we pay. But when the condo manager spends all of our money trying to impress his friends then borrows more money against the value of our building and becomes hopelessly buried in debt, then comes to us and says “ if your mortgage payment was 2000 dollars and your condo fee was 500, your new condo fee will be 2000 dollars.”
I understand that we all have to chip in a percentage to keep the country going, but for a litre of vegetable oil that I was paying 170 dollars for I am now paying 350 dollars?! It’s absolutely ridiculous!
Our only real voice as Canadians used to be our vote. Sadly when the majority of Canadians vote for one party, but the other party wins, it doesn’t really seem like a democracy.
If doubling the cost of my product made a difference to the economy, I would almost be ok with it. Sadly, they aren’t changing their habits so no tax increase is going to help. It’s only making it harder for Canadians to get by.
